Building Blocks grant recipients must acknowledge government support when publicising the project. This is a condition of the grant.
Publicity includes:
- any type of signage
- publication (such as website or community newsletter)
- promotion
- community engagement
- media and social media
- events.
Keeping the funding confidential
You must keep the funding confidential until the Minister for Children or their representative announces the funding.
This announcement could be through the media, an official event, a media release, or an endorsed social media post
Until your approved grant is announced, it must remain confidential.
Project information will be made public
Once your funding has been announced, we will create a page on the VSBA website for your project. This only applies to projects that receive $50,000 or more.
The website will include the funding type and amount, location (if available) and an overview of the project.
Government representative event opportunities
You must give the Minister for Children an opportunity to open the completed project.
Prior to planning any official event, you must seek advice as to whether the Minister or their representative can attend. This includes any project-related event, such as a sod turn, a site tour or an official opening,
When you’re planning an official event, you need to give the VSBA events team at least 3 months' notice.
You can do this by contacting vsba.events@education.vic.gov.au.
We recommend providing several options for dates and times. This will help ensure the Minister is available or can nominate a representative.
Once a date has been confirmed, we will work with you on event details.
You may be able to proceed with your event without the Minister or their representative in attendance. We will advise you if this is the case.
We may also contact you directly to plan an event on behalf of the Minister for Children.
Construction signage
Projects that receive more than $250,000 from the state government must acknowledge this support on project's signage. This is known as a capital works sign.
- A capital works sign should be erected within 2 weeks of works starting. It must be removed no later than 3 weeks after the project is completed.
- The sign should be free-standing where possible. It may be wall or fence mounted where there is not enough room.
For more information and to download the capital works signage template, see this webpage.
You must obtain our approval before printing your construction signage. Email your final PDF artwork to vsba.communications@education.vic.gov.au. Please allow 2 working days for us to review and provide approval.
